With the up and coming launch of the iPad in the US on April 3rd, Amazon have launched a Kindle app which will be specifically aimed at the iPad and other tablet devices.

The current Kindle app allows you to search more than 450,000 Kindle books, however the Kindle app for tablet devices will also include some new features.

If you already have a Kindle, then the Kindle tablet app will allow you to synchronise notes and details to with other Kindle apps or previously purchased books from your Kindle device.

Similar to the iPad user interface, Amazon’s Kindle tablet app has adopted the iPad’s seemless page-turn animation for a more real user experience, however for users who want a more simpler experience they can go back to the ‘Basic Reading’ mode.

A release date for the Kindle app for tablet device has still not been confirmed, however Amazon is said to be one of many companies working hard to ensure that the application is present on the iTunes store for the official iPad release date. We will just have to wait and see whether the Kindle app makes it in time for the apps store.

What do you think? Will the Kindle app be ready for the iPad release date? Will you be downloading the app onto your iPad if it does? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think…

All of this mess with Google, China, and Google China has come to a head as of late. We’ve seen Google be the brunt of brute-force cyber attacks, before which they were trying to uncensor a nation of censorship. And now it seems that the word getting pushed around is that Google is about ready to close up shop, and it’s happening sooner than we imagined it would.

Google has been positive about their presence in China, with some assuming that the company would shift in their views and positions, or at least figure out a way to work with the Chinese government to meet both their needs. But, there’s no surprise that the two of them probably couldn’t come to an agreement. Even if the last few things swirling around was that Google would be sticking around, with hopes of keeping the Google China employees, you know, employed, it’s looking like that’s not going to be the case after all.

For over a year Humax’s superb FOXSAT-HDR has been the only Freesat PVR on the market, but other brands are now providing a bit of healthy competition. Among them is the Grundig GUFSDTR500HD, which offers an alternative way of watching and recording Freesat’s growing number of free HD and standard-def channels.

Features

Inside this gorgeously styled unit sits a 500GB hard disk, which enables you to record up to 125hrs of hi-def or 312hrs of standard-def broadcasting, which is a lot more than the Humax’s 320GB hard disk can hold.

The key to the Grundig’s flexibility lies in the inclusion of twin DVB S2 tuners, which enables you to record one channel while watching another – surely the most important capability of any PVR – or record two simultaneously. You can even watch a recording from the hard disk while two channels are being recorded, but you can’t watch a third live channel.

I have been reporting on DXG’s camcorders for quite a while, and I found them to be adequate for those who want to make funny YouTube videos, but they often fell short for resolution.

This is because many of them were 720p shooting, but the DXG-A80V is 1080p, and shoots very clear at 30fps. The user also has the option of switching to 1080i at 60fps.

The DXG-A80V is also can shoot digital stills at 10 megapixels. It can support high-capacity SD cars up to 16GB. It also has a “built-in Gyro sensor for electronic image stabilizer and 5X optical zoom”. All in all, I would have to say that the DXG-A80V is essentially your all purpose camera.

One the most interesting features is the touchscreen interface. It’s something that I haven’t seen on their earlier models, but I’m glad it is here. Another feature is the digital voice recording function for making instant to-do lists and such. That’s something else that I wished I would have seen on earlier camcorders, but couldn’t I just use the camera to film me reminding myself of something?

The camera comes with all you would expect, such as HDMI cable, USB cable, carrying case, sadly, no SD included. Too bad. Anyway, you should be able to get it on the DXG site for about $299.99.
